The Cousins family, our pigs and the Queen Mother…
The Cousins family have been farming the land around Cressing for over 200 years. We have grown and reared a wide variety of crops and animals here including pigs, flax (for rope) and wheat. A little notoriety was even gained by Joe Cousins in the 1940’s when he and his Essex pigs met the Queen Mother!
We began Otto’s in 2022. Finn Cousins had returned to the farm after some time in Scotland and was looking for new ideas for our traditional farm. We’ve grown and changed over the past few years, growing more varieties and trying new things. Outside of pumpkins Finn’s parents Nick and Bridie Cousins still farm the fields growing crops such as wheat, beans, barley and oats.
Family, friends and you
Family and friends have always been a huge part of Otto’s. Nick and Bridie have given a huge amount of time and support. The team has grown to include Abbie, our creative genius and Nick our practical man. Without all of their help and many others none of this would be possible.
Otto’s represents a lot of hard work and dedication from countless individuals, and it is always such a pleasure to open our doors to the public every autumn, to share our lovey pumpkin patch, and hopefully let people come back with a better understanding of what us farmers do.
